Dance Team Coach and Choreographer (Part-Time) - Baltimore Brigade (Washington, DC)

Monumental Sports & Entertainment (“MSE”) is one of the largest integrated sports and entertainment companies in North America with one of the most diverse partnership groups in all of sports.   MSE owns and operates four professional sports teams: the NBA’s Washington Wizards, NHL’s Washington Capitals, WNBA’s Washington Mystics, AFL’s Washington Valor and the AFL’s Baltimore Brigade, to start operations in the 2017 season and the anticipated acquisition of a D-League NBA Basketball team before the 2018-19 season.   The company also owns and operates the Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in the mid-Atlantic, based in the center of Washington, D.C. The company oversees the management of Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the state-of-the-art training facility for the Capitals, and George Mason University’s EagleBank Arena.  The company has partnered with Washington D.C. and Events DC to build a new state-of-the-art Entertainment and Sports Arena at the St. Elizabeth’s campus in Ward 8 in Washington, D.C. which will become the practice facility for the Washington Wizards and home court of the Washington Mystics.  Monumental Sports Network, a digital platform that covers the region’s sports and entertainment news across mobile and OTT streaming devices, is also owned by MSE.

Position Overview: The Baltimore Brigade is the newest franchise team for Monumental Sports & Entertainment and the newest expansion team in the Arena Football League. The Baltimore Brigade Dance team Coach and Choreographer will choreograph all performances, sidelines, entrances, and routines for external appearances.

Responsibilities:

  • Choreograph and execute annual dance team auditions
  • Manage dance team on game days
  • Set practice schedule and run 2 - 3 rehearsals weekly
  • Submit dance team member payroll weekly
  • Serve as liaison between dance team and the business office

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Must have 3-4 years of experience on a professional sports dance team
  • Coaching / choreography experience preferred
  • Candidate should be trained and well-rounded in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pom and other genres of dance

Position Overview: The primary responsibility of this position is to direct the NBA e-sports initiative for Monumental Sports & Entertainment, starting with the Washington NBA team in NBA 2K for the 2017-18 season.

Responsibilities:                          

  • Provide team operational support, including serving as Team Manager of the NBA 2K team, managing practice schedules, players and plans, assisting coach and team operations staff with scouting player talent and building list of prospective players educating players about NBA 2K policies and plans, and in sportsmanship, fair play and gaming ambassadorship.
  • Manage e-sports basketball team for organization with a focus on intergration into the larger organizational structure, developing and supporting the team’s operational needs and working strategically and cross-functionally internally to create and deliver marketing, communications, sponsors and sales for this initiative.
  • Represent MSE with other coaching or team operations staff in match conflicts and other sports related disputes.
  • Oversee the gaming house operation of MSE and all administrative functions within that, including security, food, payments and finance, managing in-house staff, and repairs and purchases.
  • Supervise the teams’ and players’  social media content, directing communications between players and platform, promoting and assisting in the development of MSE and sponsor related products, services and clothing.
  • Assist the MSE content and creative teams in the creation of content and social media related deliverables about the team and its players.
  • Manage sponsor and community requests and obligations to promote and educate fan base and community.
  • Establish a network of contacts in the game’s community, such as event organizers, game developers, journalists, team managers and players.
  • Oversee brand strategy for all marketing and advertising, including campaign development to increase fan engagement and revenue; and collaborating internally to integrate advertising and promotional activities
  • Partner with Sales & Analytics departments on analyzing data and research to create decision support information for executives, leading the online marketing effort, including email marketing, display advertising, paid search and SMS campaigns.
  • Review and approve all creative output for brand and objective consistency, working closely with all key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Pro gaming background and experience as a player, coach or team manager.
  • The ability to lead, inspire and educate the next generation of professional gamers.

Position Overview: Responsible for generating maximum revenue through the sale of full & partial season plans, with a concentrated effort on group sales for the AFL’s Washington Valor & WNBA’s Washington Mystics (as well as all other MSE franchises). 

Responsibilities:

  • Sell Washington Valor & Washington Mystics group ticket plans to area businesses and other local groups via aggressive telemarketing, face-to-face presentations and all social channels.
  • Meet or exceed established yearly revenue and ticket goals set for new business (Mystics Club 52 Memberships, Valor Gridiron Club 365 Memberships, partial plans, group packages, suites, other MSE franchise sales).
  • Meet or exceed daily call expectation of 70 calls along with setting a minimum of five appointments per week.
  • Prospect and cultivate new groups sales leads through creative lead generation methods, as well as follow up on leads provided by the Mystics.
  • Conduct sales conversations via phone presentations, in-office meetings/presentations and meetings by conducting a thorough, custom needs analysis.
  • Based on feedback from phone calls/ meetings, present any number of custom ticket and hospitality packages for all MSE franchises.
  • Entertain and nurture relationships with clients and prospects through creative means including but not limited to: networking events, speaking engagements, prospect sampling at games, seat visits at games, open houses at the Verizon Center, and outside meetings.
  • Manage obstacles and overcome objections that are presented during the sales process.
  • Participate in ongoing weekly and monthly sales and culture training sessions
  • Execute contracts, billing, and collecting payment for first year members.
  • Contact and close referrals from newly consummated season ticket holders.
  • Submit periodic sales funnels to track progress against goals in each business category of focus.
  • Take the lead on executing a successful, seamless transition of sold membership accounts to the assigned Membership Activation Specialist.
  • Enter all pertinent prospect and customer information in CRM platform for efficient reporting and historical data purposes.
  • Proactively seek out learning and growth opportunities through training.
  • Attend and participate in weekly sales meetings.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of ticket sales experience with a pro or college sports team.

Position Overview: The Washington Mystics, Washington Valor, and Baltimore Brigade are looking for a highly talented, upbeat, and outgoing in-game DJ.  This position will help enhance the fan experience by setting the sound track for the fan experience during home games and other select events.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile, coordinate and update music library for various sport-specific situations. 
  • Create and update playlists for various theme nights, holidays and other events as approved by Game Presentation Manager.
  • Edit song clips for content and ensure the correct part of the song is played.
  • Identify music that is family-friendly and relatable to in-game situations.
  • Play music per AFL/WNBA rules as set forth by Game Presentation Manager.
  • Add new music during the season as requested from players and organization.
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of music including but not limited to rock, alternative, classic rock, hip-hop, rap, Top 40 and go-go.
  • Must be able to adapt to fast-paced environment and choose the proper song(s) as necessary.
  • Responsible for playing crowd prompts to energize the crowd during the game in addition to other music.
  • Must be available for all home games, post-season games, and team-related non-game day events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in game operations in college or professional sports.
  • Experience as a mobile DJ preferred. 
  • Must be able to use a computer-based sound playback system.
  • Must be able to take direction and follow cues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Arena Football League and/or WNBA a plus.
  • Ability to mix in a live setting a plus.
  • Flexible schedule – Must be able to work most home games, nights/weekends and holidays as required.

Position Overview: The Washington Mystics, Washington Valor, and Baltimore Brigade are looking for a highly talented, upbeat, and outgoing in-game host.  This position will help enhance the fan experience by serving as an on-camera personality during home games, scheduled events, and on social media.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an on-camera personality for all home games, including the pre-game show, requested live-to-tape features, and scheduled live in-game promotions.
  • Ability to interview sponsors, fans, players and others as assigned by Game Presentation Manager.
  • Maintain an active and professional online presence via team-sanctioned social media accounts as determined by management.
  • Attend scheduled non-game day and offseason marketing events as requested, often in an on-camera capacity and host, via social media accounts, or both.
  • Act on behalf of the organization as a champion promoter and spokesperson.
  • Assist with special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field of study.
  • Three years of experience in an on-camera role, theater production, or voice acting.
  • Ability to engage and energize fans during the game through contests, promotions and pumps.
  • Ability to take direction and ad lib in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to memorize and repeat script in advance and on the spot.
  • Knowledge of basketball and/or football.
  • Knowledge of the WNBA and/or AFL a plus.
  • Must have a personable demeanor and be customer-service oriented.
  • Comfortable in front of large crowds, and have a highly energetic, outgoing, and creative personality
  • Flexible schedule – Must be able to work most home games, nights/weekends and holidays as required.
  • Requires prolonged standing; ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and must be able to work in outdoor conditions.

Position Overview: The Washington Mystics, Washington Valor, and Baltimore Brigade are looking for a highly talented, upbeat, and outgoing PA Announcer.  This position will help enhance the fan experience by serving as the in-arena voice during home games and other scheduled events.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as PA announcer with the ability to project and enunciate clearly on a microphone in front of large audiences.
  • Announce all in-game action, such as starting line-ups, in-game promotions, and recap game play.
  • Take cues from Game Presentation Manager.
  • Creative and entertaining personality.
  • Exude positive and entertaining energy using their voice.
  • Demonstrate a professional demeanor while representing Monumental Sports & Entertainment.
  • Attend game-day production meetings and ceremony rehearsals held prior to home games.
  • Must be available for all home games, along with potential post-season games. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of sports PA announcer experience preferred with at least two years of football and/or basketball experience.
  • Strong knowledge of football & basketball, including rules, positions and terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform in front of large audiences in an audible and enunciated voice.
  • Must be able to take direction and adapt quickly in fast-paced situations.

Position Overview: This is a part-time seasonal position within the Corporate Partnership Department. Game Night staff will be fun, energetic, and committed to supporting the Corporate Partnership Department at Capitals and Wizards home games and special events.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with full-time Corporate Partnership staff in the execution of game night duties and activations.
  • Ability to capture quality photos of all in-game signage and activation.  
  • Assist and help manage set-up/breakdown and execution of any experiential activation.
  • Assist with preparation for all game night activations.
  • Assist with staffing client receptions, pre-game hospitality and other special events.
  • Manage signage inventory.

Position Overview: Responsible for selling and servicing new accounts and creating and implementing new ideas to drive ticket sales revenue.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell a full menu of ticket products for Monumental Sports & Entertainment properties, including, but not limited to full and partial season ticket packages, group tickets and hospitality packages.
  • Make cold calls from lists of area companies provided to sell full and partial season ticket packages and group tickets.
  • Effectively follow up with clients and prospective clients in order to build relationships to help provide repeat business and to meet excellent customer service requirements.
  • Proactively create opportunities for new business through up selling opportunities and referrals from existing clients.

Position Overview: The Washington Mystics, Washington Valor, and Baltimore Brigade are looking for highly talented and upbeat candidates to join our part-time promo squad. As a member of our promotions team, you will help enhance the fan experience by creating monumental memories for all guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Our Promo Squad will serve as brand ambassadors throughout the Washington, D.C. Metro Area, at events both on- and off-site. Events include but are not limited to: game nights, fan festivals, season ticket member events, sports tournaments, partner appearances, etc.

Position Overview: This position assist with the day-to-day management of ticket operation activities for the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics. The position’s primary responsibility is to support MSE sales efforts by processing ticket orders and distributing tickets.

Responsibilities:

  • Processes Full Season, Partial Plan, and Group Sales ticket orders ensuring correct pricing and package configuration.
  • Processes payments for ticket orders.
  • Supports Guest Services department with season ticket holder account requests.
  • Coordinates with Marketing department on processing of Wizards kids club orders.
  • Handles distribution of tickets via mail, ticketFast/email, will-call, and expedited shipping methods.
  • Assists with management of ticket inventory for Wizards and Mystics.
  • Works 40-50 games in Box Office each year across Wizards and Mystics seasons.
  • Manage a Box Office window on game nights to handle plan holder ticket needs, escalated customer service issues, and troubleshoot ticket problems.
  • Utilizes Ticketmaster platform including, but not limited to – Archtics, Account Manager, TM360, and TM Host.
  • Works any additional all-staff events for the Wizards and Mystics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, primarily: Excel and Word.
