Account Executive, Inside Sales - Monumental Sports & Entertainment (Washington, DC)

Monumental Sports & Entertainment (“MSE”) is one of the largest integrated sports and entertainment companies in North America with one of the most diverse partnership groups in all of sports.   MSE owns and operates four professional sports teams: the NBA’s Washington Wizards, NHL’s Washington Capitals, WNBA’s Washington Mystics, AFL’s Washington Valor and the AFL’s Baltimore Brigade, to start operations in the 2017 season and the anticipated acquisition of a D-League NBA Basketball team before the 2018-19 season.   The company also owns and operates the Verizon Center, the premier sports and entertainment venue in the mid-Atlantic, based in the center of Washington, D.C. The company oversees the management of Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the state-of-the-art training facility for the Capitals, and George Mason University’s EagleBank Arena.  The company has partnered with Washington D.C. and Events DC to build a new state-of-the-art Entertainment and Sports Arena at the St. Elizabeth’s campus in Ward 8 in Washington, D.C. which will become the practice facility for the Washington Wizards and home court of the Washington Mystics.  Monumental Sports Network, a digital platform that covers the region’s sports and entertainment news across mobile and OTT streaming devices, is also owned by MSE.

Position Overview: Responsible for selling and servicing new accounts and creating and implementing new ideas to drive ticket sales revenue.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell a full menu of ticket products for Monumental Sports & Entertainment properties, including, but not limited to full and partial season ticket packages, group tickets and hospitality packages.
  • Make cold calls from lists of area companies provided to sell full and partial season ticket packages and group tickets.
  • Effectively follow up with clients and prospective clients in order to build relationships to help provide repeat business and to meet excellent customer service requirements.
  • Proactively create opportunities for new business through up selling opportunities and referrals from existing clients.
  • Contact past customers in order to generate new ticket sales.
  • Cordially and effectively handle incoming sales calls from prospective clients for all ticket sales products. 
  • Conduct in-arena appointments and tours of Verizon Center to assist in closing new business and developing new relationships.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales goals for all ticket products.
  • Work different Monumental Sports events and games as assigned to support ticket sales efforts and promotional initiatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree. 
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with internal and external clients at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral. 
  • Aggressive and competitive approach to the selling process. 
  • Highly motivated individuals with a strong desire to build a career in ticket sales.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Experience with TicketMaster, Archtics and Microsoft Office computer software and contact management systems.
  • Prior telemarketing and/or sales experience is preferred but not required.

Position Overview: The Washington Mystics, Washington Valor, and Baltimore Brigade are looking for highly talented and upbeat candidates to join our part-time promo squad. As a member of our promotions team, you will help enhance the fan experience by creating monumental memories for all guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Our Promo Squad will serve as brand ambassadors throughout the Washington, D.C. Metro Area, at events both on- and off-site. Events include but are not limited to: game nights, fan festivals, season ticket member events, sports tournaments, partner appearances, etc.
  • Interact with guests to promote the Mystics, Valor and Brigade through in-arena concourse activations, giveaways, on-site promotions, and community outreach
  • Arrive at each game and event two hours early, and performance-ready with a positive attitude
  • Set-up and breakdown of event props/equipment and complete post-event wrap-up forms after every event
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passionate about DMV sports
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced work environment
  • Hard working, detail oriented and results driven
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to be a team player and enjoy working in a team environment

Position Overview: This is a part-time seasonal position within the Monumental Sports Network’s Marketing Department. Game Night/Street Team staff will be fun, energetic, and committed to promoting the brand and getting subscriptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work both on and off-site events (i.e. game nights, subscriber/marketing events, local games, festivals etc) to promote subscriptions to Monumental Sports Network
  • Responsible for installation set-up, operation and teardown of all interactive elements at scheduled events
  • Responsible for all operational needs and activation of the following elements while at events - distribute giveaways items, facilitate on-site promotions, interact with fans, process subscriptions and handle date collection
  • Make sure activation areas are fully stocked with necessary items for each event and ensure the areas are kept clean at all times
  • Assist Marketing Department in researching new events for appearances
  • Assist with staffing tables at games and set-up/breakdown of concourse activation area
  • Responsible for completing post-event wrap-up forms after every event
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Position Overview:  To assist the Junior Wizards Youth Basketball Summer programing for Summer 2017

Responsibilities:

  • Process registrations for basketball camps
  • Actively seek out new camp participants
  • Attend all Junior Wizards summer camps and clinics
  • Help execute Junior Wizards special events as needed
  • Assist Youth Basketball Manager and marketing department general administrative needs
  • Other duties as assigned

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Studying for or have completed a Bachelor's degree in Sports and Fitness Management, Physical Education or a sports/recreation related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, sometimes high-stress environment
  • Dependable and detail oriented
  • Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and work independently with limited supervision

Position Overview: The Manager, Youth Basketball is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating youth basketball programs in the greater DMV community. The Manager will consult with youth and organizations that represent youth to determine their needs and develop programs in response to those needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop youth basketball programs as an extension of the Washington Wizards and Jr. NBA brands
  • Develop a player and coaching system that meets the development of both players and volunteer coaches at all levels (beginner to advanced)
  • Conducts workshops for players and volunteer coaches
  • Formulates rules and regulations for teams
  • Develops a comprehensive coaching manual for the program
  • Develops a coaching philosophy and playing style that represents the Wizards and the overall Jr. NBA program
  • Sets goals for the programs instructors and volunteers
  • Develops positive relationships with participants, coaches and parents
  • Assists in the evaluation of programs, maintains accurate records, and distributes information to coaches
  • Other duties as assigned

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years of experience in sports coaching at the high school, junior college, university, semi-professional or professional level are required; or five years of experience playing the relevant sport at the university, semi-professional or professional level; or five years of experience managing or developing a large youth sports program
  • Four years of compensated experience in sports coaching at the high school, junior college, university, semi- professional or professional level; or four years of compensated experience playing the relevant sport at the semi-professional or professional level; or four years of compensated experience in managing or developing a large youth sports program may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis
  • Experience as a volunteer coach in basketball may be substituted for the experience requirement on a two-for-one year basis
